Since 1988 the sport has slowly grown from an weird idea on a coaster to an international sport with growing popularity outside the US. There are anno 2006 teams in the UK, Switserland, Holland, Belgium, Russia, Portugal, Hungary, ...

Till 2002 the world championships were held in the USA. In 2002 the world championships are biannually organized in Sumiswald Switserland.
